These days, it’s amazing to me the various means by which we can communicate. When I need a quick answer to a question I will typically text someone. If I need or want to engage someone in conversation, I might email or, better yet, call them. But, nothing replaces the personal connection made when two people get to have a face-to-face conversation, even if it’s via Face Time.
Have there been times when you desired to speak personally with a loved one or friend, yet they only engage you through text or email? Current studies show that a lack of personal dialogue, especially the use of technology as a means of communication, is one of the greatest causes of disconnect in a relationship.
Do you know how much God desires to spend personal time with you?
The Psalmist understood this when he wrote: When you said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O LORD, I shall seek.” (Psalm 27:8)
As the psalmist conveys, seeking God’s face is a matter of the heart. Does your heart long to seek Him? Do you experience a sunken, empty feeling in your heart when you haven’t spent personal time with the Lord? In the same way that texting will fail to develop a personally deep and meaningful relationship, occasional prayers and intermittent thoughts toward God will also fall short of developing an intimate relationship with Him.
Do you realize that the type of relationship you have with the Lord depends greatly on you (James 4:8)?
In Jeremiah 29:13 God says: You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
To seek the Lord’s face is to intentionally pursue Him. Are there practical steps you are taking today to seek the Lord?
